How do Free Walking Tours work?
Our guides live in Munich and know their city by heart: they’ll show you their favorite places and tell you their favorite stories, meaning every tour is unique. We’re confident enough in our guides to let you decide what to pay for the tour. With that in mind, you can be confident that you’ll get the best from our guides on any given day!
Where does the tour start?
The tour starts at the Fischbrunnen (fountain) at Marienplatz. Here is a link to google maps.
How do I recognize my guide?
Your guide will be by the fountain, wearing a nametag around their neck, with a light blue umbrella to help you find them!
Do I have to book a ticket?
We like to keep our groups small and cozy, which is why we cap the group at 25 guests. Booking a ticket will guarantee your spot, but spontaneous walk-ups are more than welcome as long as we have space.
How long does the tour take?
Our Free Walking Tour takes about two hours.
How much money should I give to the guide?
This is absolutely up to you. We want to provide superb tours no matter what your budget is. We depend on a fair average though; keep in mind that a regular ticket for a guided city tour is about 14€.
Where does the tour end?
Our tours typically finish by the Viktualienmarkt, Munich’s outdoor food market where you can enjoy a beer and a snack in the biergarten. Our guides will be happy to give you suggestions and tips about their favorite stalls!
Do you pay taxes?
All our guides are employees–we pay taxes and social security for them.
Does the tour take place in bad weather conditions?
Our tours will take place no matter what the weather is like. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!
